Language Courses at Language Centre of Leibniz University of Hannover & Other Language Schools

The Language Centre (Fachsprachenzentrum) of Leibniz University of Hannover offers different language courses. The spectrum of basic courses for beginners, advanced learners and special courses for various fields of study (e.g. Technical English).

Alternatively, you can certainly attend language courses at community schools such as  "Volkshochschule" or "Bildungsverein". You can search on more language schools under the directory http://www.sprachkurse-direkt.de/hannover_sprachschulen.htm

DAAD-Summer Course Scholarship for Students
(All Languages Except English)

The DAAD awards scholarships for language courses to students for the participation of language courses during the  semester break at the Universities in other European countries (three to four weeks) and outside of Europe (six to eight weeks).
The scholarships would be granted to all languages except English.

The language course scholarship supports the cost of living in the host country and it includes an adequate personal expenses - the expenses which will be covered during the stay in abroad are travelling, accommodation and boarding cost according to scholarship guide lines of DAAD as well as the course fees.

Students who are currently at least in their third semester are eligible for the application. As beginner courses are not recommended, it is required to prove a minimum of 2 semester in the language or an equivalent knowledge in the language. (except uncommon languages).

Courses which are not recommended courses:

  • English language courses
  • French language course applicants who are studying French as the main subject
  • Applicant who completes his/her studies in the summer semester.
  • Courses for beginners

Self support on the language courses would not be recommended.
In general, it is encouraged to complete in the following year.

German Language Examination for University Admission

The language centre offers courses on German language Examination for University Admission. The examination is a language examination for admission into German Universities which proves an adequate knowledge in German language. It is mainly not aimed at native speakers, but also for applicants with a german nationality but without a qualifying  certificate in German.
